Belagavi : Belagavi zilla Kannada Sanghatanegala Kriya Samiti president Ashok Chandaragi claimed that the state govt has issued an order directing the Belagavi City Corporation (BCC) to pass a one-line resolution declaring Belagavi is an integral part of Karnataka .
Suggesting that the decision taken in the legislative assembly on March 23, 1988, should be followed on the border issue. Mahadev Talwar, president of Kittur Karnataka Sene, said that resolution stating Belagavi is an integral part of Karnataka should be passed in BCC in response to the resolution taken by the MES in BCC during 2005. Kannada organisations have been campaigning for six months seeking a resolution. Under-secretary of urban development department Nagesh K, has written a letter to the directorate of municipal administration in this regard. It is their demand that BCC should adopt a resolution. He warned that the struggle will be intensified if BCC fails to implement the resolution.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, Chandaragi said that the under-secretary of the urban development department has directed to directorate of municipal administration that BCC should be instructed not to submit such obvious proposals regarding border issues to the govt in future.
