Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Science and Research’s Mysuru facility
Mandya: Mandya district is likely to get a 100-bed sub-centre of Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, bringing advanced cardiac treatment closer to patients in the region. The MLA said that patients from Mandya and surrounding rural areas currently have to travel nearly 50 km to Mysuru to access advanced treatment at Jayadeva Hospital.
The delay in reaching specialised healthcare facilities could prove critical during medical emergencies, particularly heart attacks, he said. Responding positively to a request submitted by Mandya MLA P Ravikumar Gowda Ganiga, chief minister DK Shivakumar directed the officials concerned to initiate necessary steps and prepare a comprehensive project proposal for establishing the hospital.
The proposed 100-bed hospital is expected to provide specialised diagnostic and treatment facilities for cardiac patients, besides strengthening emergency healthcare services for accident victims. He also drew attention to Mandya’s location along the busy Bengaluru-Mysuru National Highway, where frequent road accidents underline the need for well-equipped emergency medical facilities.
