MCC has also asked those who have already put up flex boards, banners or posters to remove them voluntarily by Oct 7. The civic body said the action is part of a strict effort to keep Mysuru free of posters and publicity material during the festival period. Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) will begin a citywide drive from Wednesday to remove all unauthorised advertising and flex boards erected within Mysuru city limits, following directions by chief minister DK Shivakumar . A flex board is a signboard made by printing text, photos, graphics, or advertisements on a flexible PVC (polyvinyl chloride) sheet. The enforcement will continue even after Dasara , it added. Ahead of the enforcement, civic authorities have appealed to elected representatives, political parties, associations, organisations, event organisers and the general public to stop installing any unauthorised publicity material starting Monday. MCC commissioner MK Savitha ordered a complete ban on putting up banners and flex boards without authorisation across Mysuru from Monday, warning that violations are likely to invite legal action. MCC teams will start physically removing flex boards from Wednesday as part of the drive. He also stated that no leaders’ photographs, including his own, should appear in any advertising materials during the festival, and instructed officials to completely prohibit the installation of unauthorised flex boards in the city. MCC officials clarified that only Dasara-related boards and banners that provide useful information to the public and visitors, and which have approval from competent authority, will be exempt from the ban. Monitoring to be intensified Enforcement teams have been instructed to implement the prohibition strictly across Mysuru, including all festival venues. Monitoring will be intensified in public spaces, on main roads and procession routes, especially along the stretch from Mysuru Palace to Banni Mantap Grounds, as well as at key entry and exit points.
