MCRI’s award-winning organ donation awareness tableau at the Kannada Rajyotsava parade in Chitradurga
Chitradurga : Chitradurga Medical College and Research Institute (CMCRI) and its teaching hospital won first prize for an organ donation tableau at Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations organised by the district administration in Chitradurga. Titled Organ donation is the greatest gift; it gives another person a new lease of life, the tableau sought to raise public awareness about organ donation and convey that it can save lives. The tableau parade began at Neelakanteshwara Temple and ended at Murugharajendra Stadium, drawing considerable attention from the public and Kannada enthusiasts along the route. The concept, envisioned by CMCRI director Dr BY Yuvaraj and medical superintendent Dr GH Megha, was appreciated as a public awareness initiative. Tableaux representing the health department, women and child development department and Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation also participated. Dr Yuvaraj urged doctors and medical staff to use Kannada more extensively in medical activities and while communicating with patients. T Raghumurthy presented the first prize to the winning tableau.
