Mysuru: Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) has advised people to follow all safety guidelines for Deepavali celebrations to prevent fire hazards during the festival of lights. In a release, it advised people to follow all safety guidelines and precautions to make illumination arrangements for their shops, homes and public streets. It asked people to check home wiring, plugs and switches for frayed insulation or loose connections. It also suggests avoiding overloading sockets by plugging multiple heavy string appliances or extension boards into a single board, as this causes overheating and short circuits. It also directed the people not to touch switches, sockets and electrical connections with wet hands and to keep outdoor connections protected from moisture. CESC also asked the people to avoid burning firecrackers near electricity poles, power lines and power transformers, besides keeping diyas, candles and firecrackers a safe distance away from electrical boards, board meters and other electrical connections.
