The campaign, which will run until Oct 2, aims to promote cleanliness through public participation and create awareness about responsible waste management. Mysuru : South Western Railway’s (SWR) Mysuru division on Thursday launched the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign across all its railway stations.
At Mysuru, students of Lalitha School took part in awareness programmes on the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026. Around 50 students visited the solid waste management facility at the Mysuru New Goods Terminal Yard, where they were briefed on various waste-management processes. The campaign was launched at the division office’s open-air auditorium, where Mudit Mittal, divisional railway manager, Mysuru, administered the Swachhata pledge. Shammas Hameed, additional divisional railway manager, along with senior divisional officers, railway staff and contract workers, participated in the event. As part of the campaign, swachhata pledges, cleanliness drives, awareness programmes, educational visits and rallies were organised at stations including Mysuru, Ashokapuram, Sakleshpur, Davanagere, Shivamogga, Harihar and Arsikere. The students also visited the Linen Care Centre and learnt about linen-care operations and the functioning of the effluent treatment plant (ETP). Transportation was arranged by the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Mysuru. At Govt High School, Ashokapuram, awareness sessions on four-way source segregation were conducted for students, followed by the Swachhata pledge. Download the TOI App.
