The MLA spoke after performing the groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming 300-bed hospital to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 180 crore as part of the proposed Government Medical College in Puttur on Friday. Stating that former chief minister Siddaramaiah approved the proposal to develop a medical college in Puttur, Rai said that his successor, DK Shivakumar, has sanctioned Rs 550 crore for the project. “A medical college in Puttur has been a demand for 40 years and I spoke 14 times during the Legislative Assembly sessions.
