She said the CEC had taken unilateral decisions despite objections reportedly raised 14 times by other Election Commission members in the past 10 months. Claiming that 13 crore people had been excluded from the rolls, she said many were labourers, farmers and undocumented citizens who could not be treated as anti-national.

KS Eshwarappa, district president of Committee to Save Public Education, said the EC should protect voters, not remove them. SFI district convener Anantaraj said unemployment, paper leaks and voter exclusion showed growing anti-democratic trends. The protest was led by AIDSO district president Pooja Nandihalli, who alleged that the SIR had become a political conspiracy affecting poor and marginalised communities.

Davanagere : Members of AIDSO, SFI and AISF staged a demonstration at Jayadeva Circle here on Friday, condemning what they termed the undemocratic actions of the SIR and alleging large-scale denial of voting rights.
