Mangaluru: The city is abuzz with preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi , with socio-cultural organisations planning a range of devotional, cultural and sporting events.
Scheduled for Sept 14, the festivities will include traditional Vedic rituals, religious discourses and cultural programmes. The organisers have planned a sports meet featuring track and field events, traditional games and tug-of-war competitions for participants of all age groups on Sept 6. “We invite everyone to join hands in making this year’s festivities a grand celebration of devotion and cultural unity,” said Dr Rai. Interschool Kannada Dasa Geethe (songs) singing and drawing competitions will also be held as part of the celebrations. Meanwhile, the Mithra Mandali Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti is preparing to host its 70th public Ganeshotsava celebrations. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Dr Asha Jyoti Rai, trustee, Buntara Yane Nadavara Matru Sangha and the Sri Siddhi Vinayaka Pratishtana Sarvajanika Sri Ganeshotsava Samiti, Omkara Nagar, Bunts Hostel, announced the organisation’s 37th annual celebrations.
