The department of school education has extended Dasara holidays: The wider industry impact

The emergence of CCTV footage has added a fresh dimension to the case

Mangaluru: The department of school education has extended Dasara holidays for schools in Dakshina Kannada by one day, until Oct 22, in view of the final-day Dasara celebrations and procession on Wednesday.

The holiday extension follows requests from parents, members of the public and elected representatives, who pointed out that the procession and religious rituals would continue into the night. Many children and parents participate in the celebrations, while those travelling back from other districts could face delays, making it difficult for students to attend school the following morning, a release from the office of the deputy director of public instruction stated. The department issued the order after consulting the Dakshina Kannada district administration.
