Upa Lokayukta directs Nagamangala officials to clear pending: The wider industry impact

Mandya: Karnataka Upa Lokayukta Justice B Veerappa Thursday directed officials of Nagamangala taluk to expedite the disposal of pending applications and files and ensure public grievances are addressed within stipulated timelines.

Officials informed him that around 400 ration card applications were pending in the taluk. Justice Veerappa noted that complaints had been received against 45 of the 95 fair price shops in the taluk. Officials also informed him that nearly 500 files were pending at the taluk office. The Upa Lokayukta noted 353 pending Record of Rights, Tenancy and Crops (RTC) applications in Nagamangala Kasaba Hobli and instructed officials to clear them within 20 days. Officials were also directed to digitise 2,385 offline records and make them available online within the same period. Upa Lokayukta also directed officials to commence and complete the proposed repair works at the taluk hospital, estimated to cost over Rs 2.7 crore, without delay.

During an inspection of the Nagamangala Taluk Office, Justice Veerappa reviewed files relating to various departments and assessed the delivery of govt services. He directed them to dispose of the applications at the earliest and ensure eligible beneficiaries receive ration cards without delay. Directing officials to inspect the shops personally, he asked them to verify the complaints and take appropriate action. He directed them to review the files and prioritise matters concerning the public. Justice B Veerappa later inspected Nagamangala Taluk Hospital and reviewed healthcare services, infrastructure, medicine stocks and cleanliness. He examined the stock, storage, distribution and expiry status of medicines and directed hospital authorities to prominently display the names of doctors attending to patients during OPD hours.
