DC and district magistrate Prabhuling Kavalikatti issued the order under sections 35 and 36 of the Karnataka Police Act, 1963, following recommendations from SP. The order imposes a 30-day ban from Sept 14 to Oct 13 on DJ music systems, colour paper blasting, fireworks and bike rallies. Taking note of a past tragedy in Hadonahalli village in which 12 people drowned after a coracle (teppa) capsized, the administration has also enforced stringent safety norms for idol immersions using coracles in rivers, lakes and backwaters.
