Nashik : A 17-year-old girl was killed after being run over by a state transport (ST) bus at Thakkar Bazaar bus stand in Nashik around 8.30pm on Sunday. “In the crowd, Aakanksha allegedly came in contact with the moving bus, lost her balance and fell on the road.
Police said the girl had come to the bus stand with her mother, sister and two acquaintances to travel to Trimbakeshwar for the fourth Shravan Somvar. Police identified the victim as Aakanksha Shelar and said the accident occurred when an ST bus was turning towards its designated platform amid a heavy rush of devotees waiting to board buses for Trimbakeshwar. Before bystanders could react, she was trapped under the vehicle’s rear wheel,” police said.
Investigation Launched Against Bus Driver for Negligence
Following a complaint from a family acquaintance of the victim, Sarkarwada police have initiated a case against a bus driver. The case is based on allegations of causing death through negligence and rash driving, under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
