Both the cheating cases took place from June 2 to June 7
The police said that they have registered a single case of cheating against unidentified persons under relevant sections of the BNS and the Information Technology Act. Following the complaint, the Cyber Police Station of Nashik city have registered an FIR against unidentified criminals. When the complainant approached the Cyber police station to register a complaint, there was one more person who was cheated to the tune of Rs six lakh in a similar manner. There have been continuous cases of people getting cheated by cyber criminals on the pretext of some other reason. The police have been appealing to people not to share their bank details with unidentified people calling on their cellphones.
Nashik : A 39-year-old pharma company employee from Nashik fell victim to a cyber scam, losing Rs 8.36 lakh from his bank account after being deceived into downloading a malicious banking application. The victim was targeted alongside another local resident, who too was defrauded on similar lines for Rs 6.13 lakh, bringing the total stolen amount to over Rs 14.49 lakh.
