The civic administration has requested establishments to maintain hygiene at the facilities, adequate water supply and proper lighting for women’s comfort
There are 466 public and community toilets with over 6,000 seats in Nashik. Of these, around 183 are public toilets in key public places, while 283 are community toilets in slum areas and residential localities. Nashik : To improve access to sanitation facilities for women across the city, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) administration has appealed to shopping malls, multiplexes, hotels, restaurants, petrol pumps and other commercial establishments to allow women to use their toilet facilities free of charge. Nashik municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri has urged all commercial establishments not to charge any fee for use of toilets by women and voluntarily support the initiative, which aims to ensure easy access to safe and clean toilets for women and girls travelling for work, education, shopping or any other activities in Nashik. The civic administration has requested establishments to maintain hygiene at the facilities, adequate water supply and proper lighting for women’s comfort while using the facilities. Commercial establishments have been asked to sensitise their staff and extend full cooperation to women and display signboards indicating that toilet facilities are available free of cost for women. The NMC operates a network of public sanitation facilities across the city. Community toilets are primarily used by local residents, whereas public toilets cater to commuters and visitors and are managed by private agencies appointed by the municipal corporation.
