The District Planning Committee (DPC) in Nashik has approved funding through its Innovative Scheme to enhance agricultural mechanisation. This initiative focuses on subsidising Kisan Drones, particularly for self-help groups, with a special emphasis on those led by women. This move aims to empower these groups and promote modern farming techniques in the region.
“Each farmer group needs to have 25 members and 250 members for Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs).
District superintendent agriculture officer Ravindra Mane said the move will significantly expand the use of drone technology for crop spraying and allied farm operations while reducing chemical wastage and overall spraying expenses. “The project is being implemented under the 2026–27 Innovative Scheme of the DPC chaired by district guardian minister Girish Mahajan, with collector Ayush Prasad serving as member secretary,” he said. Beneficiary groups must submit a formal undertaking confirming that the drone will be made available for collective use among all members,” a senior district administration official said..
Tribal women self-help groups and companies will be given priority followed by general tribal groups.
