Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A 55-year-old hotel owner was allegedly hacked to death by unidentified assailants at his hotel in Jalna district’s Ghansawangi taluka late on Tuesday night. Police have launched a hunt for the attackers, while the motive remains unclear.
The victim, Namdeo Paikrao of Jiradgaon, was attacked around 10 pm at Hotel Tukai on the Kumbhar Pimpalgaon-Ranjani road near Kandari Patur Phata.
Police said the assailants attacked Paikrao with a sharp-edged weapon, injuring his right shoulder and left rib cage. Jalna superintendent of police Teghbir Singh Sandhu said the motive was yet to be established. “Our teams are examining the circumstances preceding the attack and collecting information about people who were present in and around the hotel at the time of the incident,” Sandhu said.
He was taken to hospital, where he died during treatment. Police conducted a spot panchanama and sent the body for postmortem. A murder case was registered at Ghansawangi police station on a complaint by Paikrao’s son, Deepak.
