Chandrapur : A family in Gadchiroli’s Etapalli taluka performed last rites and even built a memorial in memory of a 60-year-old woman whom they had presumed dead after she went missing a year ago. Their grief turned into disbelief when the woman walked back into their lives alive recently. She safely returned home on Sunday.

The woman, a resident of Mohrli village, had gone missing nearly a year ago. Her family searched extensively, including in Chhattisgarh, but found no trace of her. With no information about her whereabouts, they eventually presumed she had died and performed the traditional 13th-day death ritual. The unexpected breakthrough came after the woman was found wandering in Talodhi-Balapur area in Chandrapur. Members of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Ashram run by Domaji Aadhar Foundation at Nanded village in Nagbhid taluka brought her to the shelter and arranged for her care and treatment. As per the ashram authorities, she was also examined at the Regional Mental Hospital in Nagpur. After her condition improved, the ashram members circulated her video on social media. Ashram member Parmeshwar Madavi and others then travelled for nearly five hours to bring the woman safely back to Mohrli on Sunday.
