Navi Mumbai: A hotelier from Uran, Mahendra Sahatiya (35) died after his bike dashed into a stray animal around Bori naka, at Dronagiri-Mora road.
On June 1, two youths were killed at night. The couple fell down after Sahatiya lost his balance on his scooty.
The hospital superintendent said, “The injured woman has been admitted to another hospital. His seriously injured wife is undergoing treatment at the govt hospital. The Uran police have registered an offence under the relevant sections of the BNS and Motor Vehicles Act. The accident is suspected to have been caused after a bovine suddenly strayed onto the road. Locals rushed the injured couple to the Indira Gandhi Rural Hospital-Uran. Locals have demanded adequate road safety measures, referring to the rising number of accidents. They pointed out four factors on the road stretch resulting in frequent mishaps — inadequate street lights, speed breakers, free movement of stray animals and lack of CCTV surveillance. They have demanded appropriate road safety measures from the Uran municipal council. The accidents also raised concern over road curvature, among other issues.
The couple was riding towards Mora earlier this week.
