The second stretch, around 2.2 km long, begins after Sakkardara Flyover lands at Bhande Plot Square and runs beyond Dighori Naka along Umred Road. NHAI has installed a 1,200-kg Ashok Stambh atop the Ashok Chakra-inspired rotary. The project was originally scheduled for completion by June 30, 2026, but its opening was delayed by around two and a half months. The project has two major elevated stretches, with the existing Sakkardara Flyover integrated into the network. The first, nearly four km long, starts ahead of Kamal Chowk and passes over Golibar Square, Lal Imli Square, Agrasen Square, Gandhi Gate and Ashok Square before descending ahead of the existing Sakkardara Flyover. One of the project’s visually striking features is the five-armed rotary at Ashok Square, a key part of the Kamal Chowk-Reshimbagh stretch. The Ashok Square interchange has three landings and ascending ramps, providing access towards Nandanvan, the bus stand and Govt Medical College and Hospital. The main elevated stretch continues towards Reshimbagh Square. Up and down ramps constructed near Daga Hospital and near Taj Bagh. Existing structure integrated: Sakkardara Flyover retained and incorporated into the corridor.
Nagpur: The Rs 998-crore Indora-Dighori Flyover will open to traffic on Sept 19, bringing a major north-south link into operation after a delay of around two and a half months. Union minister Nitin Gadkari and chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will inaugurate the flyover, named after RSS founder Dr Keshav Baliram Hedgewar. Its inauguration, amid Ganeshotsav celebrations, is expected to ease traffic bottlenecks in some of the city’s busiest localities and reduce pressure on key arterial roads. Implemented by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the project involved integrating new elevated stretches with existing flyovers and rebuilding the decades-old Pachpaoli Flyover.
