Pune: The anti-terrorism branch (ATB) of the Pimpri-Chinchwad police has traced 30 Bangladeshi nationals for allegedly staying illegally in the city since May this year. Of them, 26 have been deported, while proceedings are underway against the remaining four.
An officer from the Pimpri-Chinchwad police said that on Friday, the ATB detained a 29-year-old woman from a lodge in Bhosari. She claimed she was from Indore, Madhya Pradesh. The police checked her Aadhaar card and found it to be fake.
The ATB detained two Bangladeshi women on Thursday and Friday last week for living illegally in the Dehu Road and Bhosari areas.

“During sustained questioning, the woman admitted that she was from Khulna in Bangladesh and had entered India illegally about two years ago,” the officer said. He said the woman was living with a man from Indore. “The Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) has started the process of deporting her to Bangladesh,” he said.
She was in contact with her son, mother and other relatives through social media. Download the TOI App.
