Pune: A criminal with a history of offences was arrested on Wednesday after his disabled wife complained that he had physically and mentally tortured her, threatened to disfigure her face and recorded obscene videos of her that were later shared online.
The incident occurred when 10 days of his externment period still remained, an officer from the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch said.
Senior police inspector Rupali Bobade of the Pimpri police said the accused had been booked under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act. Bobade said the woman is visually impaired. He also chopped off her hair and threatened to disfigure her face,” the officer said. Bobade said after the woman learnt that her videos had been shared on social media, she approached the police and lodged a complaint.
The externed criminal harassed and threatened her wife in a hotel before his externment period was over. She and the accused got married in a temple about six years ago and have a son. After the accused allegedly started harassing her, the woman began living separately with their son. The couple had a dispute over the custody of their son. “The woman stated in her complaint that the accused recently took her to a hotel and recorded obscene videos of her. The accused has a criminal record with the Alandi police and was externed from Pune district.
