“He steps out only on Amavasya (new moon) and Pournima (full moon),” Shinde said, while speaking at his native Dare Tamb village in Satara district. We will respond through our work and by providing relief to farmers affected by deficient rainfall,” he said. Shinde said he had spoken to the Dharashiv collector and would personally visit the affected areas. “We will ensure farmers receive the maximum possible compensation,” he said.
The deputy CM also hit back at Thackeray’s criticism of state govt’s handling of crop-loss relief. “An announcement was made, but farmers did not get a penny. It was our govt that actually waived farm loans. Let him criticise us. The remarks came a day after Thackeray visited Marathwada and accused Mahayuti govt of delaying compensation for farmers by citing NDRF norms. He also defended his recent London trip, saying he would not miss any opportunity to promote Marathi pride globally and showcase state initiatives like Ladki Bahin and Shasan Aplya Dari. Shinde also stressed the need for environmental conservation, saying climate change was leading to extreme weather events, including floods and droughts. “Whenever I come here, I plant trees. We need to protect the environment. We have seen floods, glacier melting and other climate-related disasters across the world,” the deputy CM added. Download the TOI App.
