Kolhapur : The water supply department of the Kolhapur Municipal Corporation (KMC) will undertake repair work for leaks on the 700mm diameter main pipeline, between Balinga and Chambukhadi on Wed, Sept 9 and Thursday, Sept 10. Due to this, daily water supply in A, B, C, D and E wards of Kolhapur city, and adjoining suburbs will be suspended for two days, with low-pressure water supply to be received on Friday.
Accordingly, the nuisance investigation team of KMC and the depattment disconnected six water connections from the Vikramnagar area, and an amount of Rs 2.96 lakh was recovered from the arrears.
KMC water supply engineer, Harshjit Ghatge said, “Necessary measures to restore water supply will be taken once the pipeline repair work is completed. Water supply will also be affected in ‘C’ and ‘D’ Wards entirely, as well as in areas including Dudhali, Gangavesh, Uttareshwar Peth, Shukravar Peth, Brahmapuri, Budhwar Peth Talim, Siddharthnagar, Papachi Tikti, Lakshmipuri, Shaniwar Peth Chowk, Somwar Peth, Treasury Office, Bindu Chowk, Uma Talkies, Mahalakshmi Temple, Gujari, Mirajkar Tikti, and the adjoining rural areas and suburbs. Additionally, daily water supply will be disrupted in parts of ‘E’ Ward, including the Khanvilkar Petrol Pump area, the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th Lanes of Shahupuri, Kumbhar Galli, and Bagal Chowk. Residents from the affected areas should use available water sparingly, avoid wastage, and cooperate with the civic body. A special campaign is being implemented by the water supply department against arrears and unauthorised water connections in the city and adjoining rural areas.
