Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has floated a Rs30 crore tender for setting up a new command and control centre (CCC) at the rural police headquarters in Adgaon on the city’s outskirts as part of technology-driven arrangements being planned for Kumbh Mela 2027.

An NMC official said the Adgaon command centre will function as a key operational hub for security, surveillance and civic management and will be integrated with Nashik Smart City’s existing command centre at the city police commissioner’s office and the proposed Trimbakeshwar Command and Control Centre. Project documents prepared by the Nashik Municipal Smart City Development Corporation Ltd (NMSCDCL) state that surveillance and monitoring infrastructure will cover mela areas, ghats, approach roads, transit hubs, accommodation facilities and parking zones spread across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar. The command centres will serve as the central monitoring and response mechanism during Kumbh. Data generated through cameras, drones, sensors and Internet of Things (IoT)-based devices will be brought onto a common platform, allowing officials to track incidents on GIS-based maps and initiate response measures as per standard operating procedures. The integrated system is expected to improve public safety, inter-agency coordination and crowd management. As per an official, once the congregation concludes, the surveillance network and command centres will permanently function under the city’s public safety, traffic management and urban monitoring framework. The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela Authority (NTKMA) approved the project for implementation through the municipal corporation recently, which will be executed by the Nashik Smart City Corporation functioning under the NMC.
