“An inspection carried out on July 29 revealed several deficiencies, following which an improvement notice was issued. During an inspection, officials found that the operator had shifted production to a new premises without obtaining a fresh licence under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
A subsequent re-inspection, however, found that the violations had not been rectified,” an official said. “During the suspension period, the hotel cannot manufacture, store, sell or distribute any food items,” FDA assistant commissioner (food) D V Patil said. In Sambhajinagar, FDA suspended the food licence of a hotel at Vadgaon Kolhati till further orders after repeated non-compliance with food safety norms. Among the lapses noted were peeling plaster and paint on walls and ceilings, the absence of insect-proof nets on windows, lack of drainage traps to prevent the entry of insects and cockroaches, improper segregation of vegetarian and non-vegetarian food as well as raw and cooked food, delayed disposal of waste from food storage areas and failure to maintain mandatory records.
