2,220 Pregabalin capsules seized
During the raid on Sept 25, the officials seized 15 packets (150 capsules) of the medicines as the records regarding the purchase and sale of the said medicines were not found in the register and medicine inventory. From the supplier, more strips containing a total of 2,070 Pregabalin capsules were seized. Sandeep Nigade, senior inspector of ANC, said, “The accused are the medical store owners identified as Narayan Singh Bhopal Singh (50), and Anil Shankarlal Prajapati (26). The third accused, who had supplied the medicines, has been identified as Vishal Mahipati Bhosale (30). In the FIR against the accused, relevant sections of the BNS have been invoked for the offence of action endangering life or personal safety of others and joint criminal liability along with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, under the section that makes it illegal to manufacture, sell, stock, exhibit, offer for sale, or distribute any drug or cosmetic without a valid licence.
The medicine distributor will be questioned by FDA for selling the said medicine Bhosale.” Navi Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Navi Mumbai crime branch in co-ordination with the state FDA raided Mahadev Medical and General store in Asudgaon, sector-4A, Panvel taluka, after receiving a tip-off that Pregabalin Capsule (IP) medicines are being sold illegally at a higher price, without a doctor’s prescription, allegedly for intoxication. The two accused medical store owners and the person supplying the medicine were detained and an FIR was registered against them at Khandeshwar police station. They have not been arrested but served with a notice under Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS)”. Nigade added, “FDA has served a notice to the medical store owners for cancelling the licence and has sought the details of the seized medicine stocks for selling to patients.
