Assault Linked to Love Marriage Dispute in Pune

In Pune, four men attacked a 33-year-old eatery owner on Tuesday afternoon, reportedly due to their disapproval of his love marriage to their sister. The assault occurred around noon in the parking lot of the victim’s building in Pimple Nilakh. The victim’s two brothers attempted to intervene but were also assaulted during the incident.

Sangvi police have registered a case under sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections of the Indian Arms Act.

An officer from the Sangvi police said the complainant runs an eatery in the Pimple Nilakh area. The officer said that when the complainant’s two brothers rushed to his help, the accused assaulted them as well. “Our investigation is underway,” the officer said.

He had married the sister of the accused, but her family opposed the marriage. The complainant also alleged that one of the accused snatched his gold chain before fleeing the spot. The complainant and his two brothers sustained injuries to their hands.
