Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar : A day after city police invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against the Rahul Chabukswar gang for the second time in a month, Pundlik Nagar police registered another case alleging extortion , criminal intimidation and illegal moneylending against the gang and its associates.
The complainant told police he had already paid Rs 27.5 lakh towards principal and interest. Despite this, the accused allegedly forced him to execute a token sale receipt for his house and demanded another Rs 35 lakh while issuing death threats. The new case comes a day after police commissioner Pravin Pawar approved MCOCA action against the 15-member gang in an extortion and robbery case registered with MIDC CIDCO police. In that case, a contractor alleged that gang members threatened him, seized his Innova car and took away Rs 7.25 lakh meant for labour payments.
Police said the accused allegedly took possession of Suryawanshi’s four-wheeler and laser-cutting machine through token sale receipts and did not provide loan documentation. Police have urged citizens to approach the crime branch without fear if they are threatened, assaulted or coerced into parting with money or property for loan recovery.
