Nagpur: The Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Wednesday asked its former judge JN Patel to submit his report within four weeks on the inquiry conducted into the affairs of the Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB).
The court noted that it found it necessary to place the report prepared under Section 88 of the Maharashtra Cooperative Societies Act, 1960, on record. The inquiry has examined the functioning and affairs of NDCCB, which was then headed by former Congress minister and former Saoner MLA Sunil Kedar.
The direction followed an application by the State Cooperation Department seeking appropriate directions for the report to be placed before the court.
Inquiry into Financial Irregularities Progresses
The Section 88 inquiry into alleged financial irregularities involving the bank’s funds is currently underway. Justice Patel, a former high court judge, began hearings in October 2024. Key individuals, including Kedar and others linked to the case, have appeared through their legal representatives.
This inquiry follows the conviction of Kedar and five others by a sessions court in December 2023 related to the same alleged financial scam. The ongoing investigation aims to clarify the circumstances surrounding these irregularities and assess the full extent of the implicated parties’ involvement.
