How bid to seal petrol pump turned deadly for IndianOil official — 'Stabbed 7 times with dagger'

On Tuesday morning, Mahesh Shelke (37) had gone to a petrol pump as part of a team to seal and take over the outlet.

Police arrested all five accused within 24 hours of the killing. They were identified as Latabai Pandavveer (46), her son Umesh (25), and their acquaintances Shravan Wakude (21), Rahul Dhayje (37) and Prathmesh Waghmare (27). Shelke suffered grievous injuries in the attack. A Kurunda police team led by assistant police inspector Shivaji Puri reached the spot and rushed him to hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. Police registered an FIR on the complaint of IndianOil senior manager Gullakantla Maniprasad and booked five people for murder, attempt to murder, unlawful assembly and rioting, besides invoking provisions of the Arms Act.

CHHATRAPATI SAMBHAJINAGAR: A dispute over the takeover of a petrol pump in Maharashtra’s Hingoli district turned deadly on Tuesday when an IndianOil sales manager was allegedly stabbed seven times with a dagger while on duty.

Mahesh Shelke (37), manager (retail sales) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s Nanded office, was part of the team. Talks continued for hours, with the family reportedly seeking a month’s time and assuring officials that it would allow IOC to take over the outlet thereafter. Shelke’s body was taken to Vasmat sub-district hospital for an autopsy before being handed over to his family.

An IndianOil team reached the petrol pump at Chondhi village in Hingoli’s Vasmat taluka around noon on Tuesday to seal the outlet and take over the outlet following a dispute with the Pandavveer family, which operated the pump.
