Postgraduate medical admissions at SMBT Medical College this year will be done by the centre’s Medical Counselling Committee
NEET-PG results were announced recently and the admissions are likely to start soon. The distinct category will be introduced in phases, it said.
a circular issued by the college said postgraduate admissions this year will be conducted by Centre, as admissions to deemed institutions are handled by MCC While most undergraduate admissions have already commenced through the state counselling process. It said that students admitted for these programmes this year will continue to be part of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and the exams will be conducted by the state university. In a detailed circular, the college mentioned that they have been declared as a deemed-to-be university under a distinct category by Union ministry of education. The circular mentioned that admissions in MBBS, BDS, MDS, B Sc nursing and MSc nursing will continue through the state’s CET cell.
A detailed note on eligibility, fees, registration and counselling will be published soon, added the statement. The circular mentioned that the D Pharm and BDS and MDS courses are not constituents of the deemed-to-be university and their admissions will continue as before. To be free of state regulations, three private colleges have changed their status this year. Two were granted private university status by the state and one has now got approval for deemed status. Somaiya group has also applied for a deemed status.
Mumbai: Postgraduate medical admissions at SMBT Medical College this year will be done by Centre’s Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The private medical college based in Igatpuri has received the deemed university status it had been awaiting. It further added that programmes including MD/MS, DM/M Ch, B Pharm and M Pharm, physiotherapy, ayurveda and MD/MS in ayurveda will be offered under the deemed-to-be university status from this year.
