Navi Mumbai: A 56-year-old man, working as chief manager with a major Indian central public sector petroleum and integrated energy company, was defrauded of ₹14.72 lakh by a scammer woman who had befriended him on Travel Buddy App by convincing him to invest in online Forex trading and assuring high returns. Accordingly, from Oct 4 onwards, he gradually invested a total of ₹14.72 lakh by transferring the money to bank accounts provided by them. Thereafter, she introduced him to her aides on Telegram IDs where he was guided to invest in Forex trading.

As per the complainant, he had registered on Travel Buddy App, where the woman who identified herself as Meher Sachdeva had befriended him and, gaining his trust, she convinced him to invest in online Forex trading by assuring high returns after claiming that she too has invested and earned a huge profit. When the complainant did not receive any returns on his investment for almost a month, he questioned the woman Meher Sachdeva, but she kept giving him evasive replies and later ignored his calls and messages. As the complainant realised that he was cheated, he lodged a police complaint.
