IndiGo Crew Member Dies After Mumbai Cab Crash, Driver Booked
Mumbai: IndiGo cabin crew member Kainoor Mistry (32) died on Saturday while undergoing treatment for serious head injuries sustained in a road accident on Sept 18 in Borivali East. Kasturba Marg police registered a case against the cab driver Vijay Khose (25). After Mistry’s death, police invoked BNS section 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) and summoned Khose with a notice to appear for probe. Mistry, a Mira Road resident, was returning home from work in a Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire when driver Vijay Khose (25) allegedly lost control and crashed into a bridge ledge on Western Express Highway. Further Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) section 106(1) for causing death by negligence was added after Mistry died. The accident occurred at 5.45 am near Blue Sky Co-operative Society on the highway’s northbound carriageway, police said.
“Khose claimed that he allegedly lost control while attempting to drive over a bridge ridge.
Khose was served a notice,” said a police officer of the Kasturba Marg police station. She was in the rear car seat when the incident occurred,” said the officer. She is survived by her eight-year-old son. “We initially booked Khose for an act endangering life or personal safety and rash driving on a public way. IndiGo had hired vehicles from Mayursh tour and travel company to transport employees. He was unhurt, while Mistry suffered serious head injuries.
Mira Road Accident Investigation Update
Khose, a resident of Mira Road, transported Mistry to Bhakti Vedanta Hospital with the assistance of bystanders after the incident. Mistry succumbed to her injuries on Saturday evening. According to police, Khose was not under the influence of alcohol and remained at the scene, demonstrating familiarity with the area and its medical facilities. Following the accident, Khose was taken to the police station where he received a notice. Authorities clarified that a second notice would not be issued regarding this case.
