Mumbai: An unidentified motorist allegedly injured a police constable and damaged a barricade while speeding through a nakabandi on SV Road in Bandra (W) on Friday.

The nakabandi was conducted from 1.30 am to 3.30 am. Police constable Karan Mohite (29) was on Bandra mobile duty with Sunil Kawale and officers Patil and Zajurne when the incident occurred. Mohite, posted at Bandra police station, said the red-coloured car approached Jarimari Bandra Talav roadblock on the southbound carriageway around 2.20 am.

Because it was speeding, visibility was poor at night and its lights were dazzling, in the complaint, Mohite said they could not note the vehicle’s registration number.

“The team is gathering information about the car through the CCTV camera to track the accused,” said a police officer of Bandra police station. Officers signalled the driver to stop, but the motorist allegedly continued at high speed and struck a barricade. He later noticed that the barricade had been damaged. Mohite underwent a medical examination at Bhabha Hospital before approaching the police station with a complaint against the unknown driver.
