The woman approached Waliv police, who registered a case under the BNS for rape and cheating as well as under the Information Technology Act, and arrested him.
Vasai : Waliv police on Monday arrested a slumdweller from Nalasopara for allegedly raping a 30-year-old doctor from Vasai after posing as an engineer on a matrimonial website and tricking her into meeting him while pretending to be a ‘playboy’.
Police said Satpute provided her with a phone number and told her to meet the ‘playboy’ at a hotel. Police tracked down and arrested Satpute from his residence in a slum pocket in Nalasopara, said inspector Gorakhnath Jaid. Police said they found that Satpute had created multiple fake Instagram accounts.
She met the man, recorded a video of the sexual act, and sent it to the accused, as instructed. Later, Satpute allegedly refused to marry her, claiming that if he married her, he would die within three months. The woman later learnt that the ‘playboy’ was Satpute. She approached Waliv police, who registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for rape and cheating as well as under the Information Technology Act.
