All 5,065 seats across 43 govt medical colleges and all 3,299 seats across 25 private medical colleges have been allotted. Of the 450 seats across two private medical universities, 447 have been allotted
Mumbai: The cut-off for MBBS admissions at private medical colleges in Maharashtra has dropped to 443 marks in the third round, while the open-category cut-off at govt colleges remains at 534. At the newly established NKP Salve private medical university, the cut-off has fallen to 218 marks after seats under the NRI quota were converted into the All India Quota (AIQ). The State Common Entrance Test (CET) Cell on Sunday released the third merit list for admissions for the 2026-27 academic year, offering seats to 8,811 students against 8,814 available. Two private medical universities had announced the conversion of NRI quota seats into AIQ seats, leading students to expect that these seats would be available at the AIQ fee of Rs 17 lakh. However, colleges are demanding Rs 35 lakh in NRI fees for these seats, creating confusion among applicants. All 5,065 seats across 43 govt medical colleges and all 3,299 seats across 25 private medical colleges have been allotted. Of the 450 seats across two private medical universities, 447 have been allotted. The cut-offs at government colleges remained high across categories, standing at 510 marks for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 529 for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 522 for Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC), 459 for Scheduled Castes (SC) and 383 for Scheduled Tribes (ST). At private medical colleges, the cut-offs were 451 marks for EWS, 429 for OBC, 418 for SEBC, 414 for SC and 349 for ST candidates.
The high fees are beyond the reach of many families, forcing students who aspire to pursue MBBS to reconsider their plans, said Sudha Shenoy, a parents’ representative.
Students allotted seats in the third round must report to their respective colleges and confirm admission by October 14. Of the 2,617 seats available in the third round of Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) admissions, 2,529 have been allotted, leaving 88 vacant. All 317 seats across five govt dental colleges have been filled. Private dental colleges have allotted 2,120 of their 2,200 seats, while a private dental university has filled 92 of its 100 seats.
