Nagpur: A pet dog allegedly let loose on the road bit a 10-year-old boy at Om Nagar on Koradi Road, leading to a quarrel between two neighbours. Koradi police registered an offence after the boy’s mother alleged that the dog owner abused and threatened her.
The incident took place on Oct 4 at about 5 pm when the pet dog of Shrikant Shende bit the boy, Sagar Harde (10), on the right leg near the knee. Later, Sagar’s mother, Umeshwari (40), went to Shende’s house to raise her grievance with Shende.
Shende allegedly challenged her to take whatever action she wanted, said police. Police said Umeshwari is a labourer from Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh and lives on rent at Om Nagar. Senior inspector of Koradi police station Ganesh Dhumal said it’s the responsibility of the owner to ensure the dog doesn’t harm people on the road.
Neighbours at the spot alerted Sagar’s mother. The injured boy was treated at Mayo Hospital and brought home. Umeshwari alleged she was abused, threatened and pushed out of the house. She then lodged a complaint at Koradi police station. The accused has not been arrested.
Police registered a case on Tuesday against Shende for voluntarily causing hurt, criminal intimidation and intentional insult meant to provoke a breach of peace.
