“Farmers’ signatures must be obtained on each assessment, while lists of completed panchnamas should be displayed at village chavadis and gram panchayats,” she said. Pant directed tehsildars to monitor the exercise daily, regularly update details of the area and number of farmers covered, and conduct field inspections to verify the findings. Pant also asked revenue officials to ensure coordination between taluka- and village-level officials and complete the exercise within the deadline. She directed banks to ensure drought-hit farmers do not face complaints or coercive recovery efforts over loans. The Animal Husbandry Department was asked to submit an immediate taluka-wise assessment of fodder availability to enable advance planning for livestock in drought-affected areas. On the water front, Pant directed authorities to reserve existing water sources primarily for drinking purposes and take stringent action against unauthorised withdrawal from protected sources. Talukas were also asked to assess available water stocks against projected demand and prepare a supply plan covering the coming summer and extending until the next monsoon. She also directed the administration to accelerate water conservation works under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, including construction of water-harvesting structures, by setting clear targets for the departments concerned.
