Nitesh Karale
Nagpur : Independent candidate Nitesh Karale, who polled just over 25,000 votes, said on Thursday that Congress should congratulate and thank him for its win in the Nagpur graduates’ constituency. On the Congress claim to the win, Karale said, “Getting 25,000 votes is no small thing. They thought a mere teacher would get 7,000 or 8,000 votes at best.
Because of me, and Wanjarri should actually felicitate me, the Congress win happened. Had it done so, BJP too could have won, but its policy went wrong somewhere. On how he sought votes, Karale said, “I asked people to give me the first preference and to give the second preference to whoever they liked. On why he stayed in the fray, Karale said, “Not every fight is fought to win. On the cost of his campaign, Karale said, “I did not distribute a rupee, no mutton parties, no liquor parties. Addressing Wanjarri directly, Karale said, “Let Wanjarri contest as an independent, without a party, and come to the ground against me. On the next round of polls, Karale said, “In the assembly election I will stand against Pankaj Bhoyar. Karale said he would also contest zilla parishad and panchayat samiti polls in Vidarbha.
Both BJP and Congress took me lightly. Now, how can they call it a Congress victory? BJP did not ask for second preference votes at all. Karale rejected any suggestion that his candidacy was part of a strategy involving Wanjarri. Some fights are fought to prove your existence. But a message has certainly gone to the parties. If you do not give tickets to people who work, the public can push any party into a ditch. If I get this many votes against him, I will win. I do not pick fights with small fry. Download the TOI App.
