Nagpur: New Kamptee police have arrested Mohd Shafiq after seizing over 5kg of ganja worth ₹1.01 lakh from his possession. Police are now searching for the alleged supplier, identified as Faizan Ansari Firoz (27). Shafiq had allegedly travelled from Odisha carrying the contraband and was caught during a raid based on confidential information.
During the search, they recovered 5.084kg of ganja, valued at ₹1,01,680, from Shafiq’s possession. The seized contraband was estimated to be worth around ₹20,000 per kg. As per police, the raid was conducted after officers received specific intelligence about the movement of a drug consignment. Police suspect that the seizure could provide leads into an inter-state drug supply network operating between Odisha and Nagpur. Efforts are underway to trace Ansari and establish the source of the contraband, the intended recipients and the possible distribution network.
A case has been registered under the relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
