Nagpur: The district has 246 of the 446 polling booths that have been set up across six districts for the Nagpur division Graduates’ Constituency Election. Chandrapur has 58, Wardha 41, Gondia 39, Bhandara 35 and Gadchiroli 26 booths.

Polling will be held on Friday, Oct 23, from 8 am to 4 pm, and counting is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct 27. To enforce the model code of conduct, the division has put in place 80 flying squads, 34 video surveillance teams, 14 video viewing teams and six control rooms. He directed all agencies concerned to work in coordination so that the election process is smooth, transparent and well planned.

The meeting reviewed the work of these teams and control rooms. The review also covered arrangements at polling booths, distribution and collection of polling material, availability of ballot boxes, planning and training of polling staff, transport and security. Preparations for counting were examined as well. A presentation was made on safe handling of polling material, strong room arrangements and the groundwork needed for counting. Collectors of all six districts of the division gave information on these points. Divisional commissioner Vijayalakshmi Bidari, Nagpur collector Kumar Ashirwad, additional commissioners Pradeep Kulkarni and Rajesh Khawle, additional collector Praveen Mahire and resident deputy collector Anup Khande were present.
