The girls, aged 15 and 18, had reportedly been missing since September 29.
Nagpur: Two girls, including a minor, who had run away from their homes in Chhattisgarh were rescued by MahaMetro at the Sitabuldi Interchange Metro Station earlier this month.
“The 18-year-old girl’s parents arrived and took her home on Sept 5. The 15-year-old was sent to juvenile care before a police team from Chhattisgarh took her into custody and returned her home,” a cop told TOI. During questioning, the girls revealed they were from Raipur and had travelled to Delhi before reaching Nagpur. Further enquiry revealed a missing person report had been lodged at Bettiah police station in Chhattisgarh by brother of one of the girls.
The two girls approached the ticket counter at Sitabuldi Interchange and sought tickets, according to MahaMetro sources. However, their inability to provide clear details raised suspicion of the woman manning the counters. She engaged the girls in conversation while simultaneously alerting security personnel. Police sources say that the two, who are friends, had reportedly run away together, though the exact reason behind their decision remains unclear.
