Nagpur: The much-awaited Rs 998-crore Indora-Dighori flyover is likely to open for traffic around Sept 15. Gadkari had earlier announced that it would open by August 1, but that deadline, too, was missed.

Though the exact inauguration date is yet to be finalised, NHAI sources said preparations are underway to make it operational during Ganeshotsav. Sources said the inauguration of the city’s biggest and costliest flyover project is likely to be conducted by union minister Nitin Gadkari . The flyover’s name has also not been finalised, with NHAI inviting suggestions from citizens.

Curing work is currently underway on the recently installed open-web girder over Railway Level Crossing (LC) 570 at Pachpaoli, according to NHAI officials.

Some project components will remain incomplete even after the flyover opens, according to sources. After that, only minor finishing work will remain,” an NHAI official said. Two road under bridges (RUBs) planned at railway level crossings in Pachpaoli will be taken up by NHAI only after the flyover is commissioned. Thus, while the main elevated corridor is expected to provide immediate relief, the project as a whole will take longer to become fully operational. “The major pending work is the up-and-down ramp near Daga Hospital, which should be completed by the second week of Sept.
