Nashik: A 30-year-old woman and her four-year-old son were found dead at their home in Jalgaon on Monday evening. Police have registered an accidental death case and launched an investigation into the circumstances leading to the deaths.

The mother and son were found hanging inside a bedroom of their house around 6pm, according to police. No note was recovered from the scene,” said inspector Vishal Jaiswal, of the Shanipeth police station. Police said a scheduled Ganesh festival programme in the area was cancelled following the tragedy.

The deceased have been identified as Hemangi Mahajan and her son Shaurya, residents of Talele Colony under Shanipeth police station limits. Hemangi’s husband serves in the armed forces and is currently posted in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Family members became suspicious after Hemangi did not respond despite repeated calls and found the room locked from inside. “A saree was used to make two separate nooses. Tragic Discovery in Mahajan Family Home

In a distressing incident, two individuals were found deceased in a residence in the Mahajan family home. The discovery occurred when Hemangi’s brother-in-law, unable to access the room, looked through a window and saw the two hanging from a ceiling fan. Following preliminary procedures, the bodies were subsequently returned to the family.

The Mahajan family resides in a ground-plus-one house, with the brother-in-law living on the upper floor. This tragic event has shocked the community, prompting discussions about mental health and support systems.
