Nashik: As many as 1,380 villages in the Nashik range of the police are celebrating ‘Ek gaon ek Ganapati’ (One Village One Ganapati) as part of Ganeshotsav this year.
The highest number of villages (757) celebrating is alone in Nashik rural. In Ahilyanagar, 257 villages are organising one festival; 173 in Jalgaon , 159 in Nandurbar and 34 in Dhule. IG special of Nashik Range Sanjay Yenpure said, “This year, in the urban areas, we attempted to tell people to have only one festival per ward. Mandals have been told to take necessary precautionary measures like installing CCTV cameras and spreading awareness against drug addiction. SP Srikant Dhivare of Jalgaon, who has been a DCP in Nashik and also the SP of Dhule before his posting in Jalgaon, said, “It is all depended on the awareness among people.
In a bid to encourage social integrity, the police take up various programmes from time to time. This too is a part of this initiative. In Nashik, the response has been enthusiastic for the past many years. But contradictory scenes could be seen in other districts.
