Nashik city police have introduced a Ganeshotsav competition aimed at promoting safe and environmentally conscious celebrations for this year’s Ganapati festival. The initiative seeks to encourage community participation while fostering socially responsible practices during the festivities.
Five top-performing mandals will be selected from Zone-1 and five from Zone-2 of the city police Commissionerate area. The participating mandals will be evaluated on a 100-point scale based on two main categories. 30 points will be awarded for awareness campaigns focused on the safety and protection of women and children, promoting public awareness of the ‘Dial 112’ emergency response initiative, and anti-drug awareness drives. Furthermore, there are 15 points for tableaux depicting social causes such as water conservation, saving the girl child, anti-superstition awareness, organic farming, and another 15 points for fire safety measures, emergency facilities and traffic management to prevent road obstructions, and adherence to govt guidelines.
The police said a total of ten prizes will be awarded across the city to Ganapati mandals. Awards will be given for the first, second and third places with two consolation prizes. Only officially permitted public Ganapati mandals operating within the jurisdiction of Nashik city police Commissionerate are eligible to participate in the competition.
