Illegal tree cutting by unidentified persons on Gangapur Road

Nashik : More than 50 trees planted on the central divider of Nashik’s Gangapur Road were allegedly hacked overnight by unidentified people, prompting the civic body to file a police complaint. Authorities have also launched an investigation into what officials suspect was a deliberate act of vandalism. A subsequent inspection by the NMC’s garden department confirmed that dozens of trees had been illegally cut.

I have directed the garden department to file a police complaint and ensure a thorough investigation into the incident,” Khatri said. “We are verifying who could be behind the illegal tree cutting and will provide all necessary information to the police,” said Vivek Bhadane, superintendent of the NMC’s garden department. The incident came to light after residents alerted the municipal corporation about large-scale damage to the divider plantation. Acting on the directions of municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri, the garden department lodged a complaint with the Gangapur police station.
