Road repair works in progress in Nashik city
Nashik Municipal Corporation Launches Road Restoration Initiative
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated a comprehensive road restoration and resurfacing program, with 37 tenders amounting to Rs 110 crore. This initiative aims to address roads that have been damaged by utility works and those that have deteriorated over time across the city’s six civic divisions. The project is expected to commence in October, following the monsoon season and the completion of the tendering process.
Civic officials indicated that the restoration efforts are crucial as Nashik prepares for an extensive infrastructure development phase in anticipation of the Simhastha Kumbh Mela. A pre-bid meeting for interested contractors is scheduled for September 1, with bid submissions due by September 4. The tender opening is expected to take place after September 7.
Work orders will be issued promptly after the tender process concludes, allowing contractors to begin roadworks in early October. Officials noted that the supply of bitumen, an essential material for road construction, should improve post-monsoon, and procurement measures are being implemented to ensure a steady supply during the project’s execution.
NMC has simultaneously directed MNGL to complete pending household PNG connections across the city by Sept-end.
Some restoration works awarded under earlier tenders were also expected to commence alongside the new projects in Oct.
Of the total allocation, around Rs 75 crore has been earmarked for repairing roads dug up by Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) for piped natural gas (PNG) pipeline works and by other utility agencies. Among the major projects, Rs 8.02 crore has been allocated for repairing MNGL-dug roads in ward number 7 under the Nashik West division. Another key project involves widening and asphalting the development plan (DP) road between Upnagar Naka and the Ingle Nagar traffic signal in the Nashik Road division at an estimated cost of Rs 8 crore. Repairs of roads excavated by MNGL in ward number 16 under Nashik East division are estimated at Rs 6.70 crore, while an additional Rs 6 crore will be spent on resurfacing asphalt roads in various parts of the division. The project package also includes Rs 5.49 crore for restoration and asphalting of dug-up roads in ward number 31 under the Cidco division. Colony roads in wards 2, 3 and 6 will be repaired at a cost of Rs 4.19 crore, while road restoration works in the Satpur MIDC area have been estimated at Rs 3.49 crore.
