Authorities expect nearly three lakh sadhus to attend the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Nashik, with three Amrit Snans scheduled. In comparison, the 2015 event drew around one lakh sadhus and utilized Sadhugram, which spanned 350 acres designated as a no-development zone for future use.
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) currently owns 94 acres and plans to lease an additional 800 acres from local landowners for temporary use during the festival. Municipal commissioner Manisha Khatri confirmed that the state government has approved the acquisition of approximately 200 acres. To facilitate this, the civic body has requested Rs 2,400 crore for the land acquisition process.
Nashik : Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) will develop an expanded Sadhugram across 1,150 acres in Tapovan and the surrounding areas. The flag‑hoisting for the Kumbh Mela is scheduled for Oct 31, this year. The Amrit Snans will be held between Aug and Sept 2027, during which nearly one crore devotees are expected to visit Nashik.

Meanwhile, Kumbh Mela Authority commissioner Shekar Singh said that civic works such as internal roads, water supply networks, sanitation facilities, and other essential services will be developed on the site. The temporary settlement will be available for various akhadas and sadhus during the religious congregation. On‑ground work is expected to begin after the monsoon. The Kumbh Mela is expected to be one of the largest gatherings, and the expansion of Sadhugram is a crucial step toward smooth management, adequate facilities, and overall coordination.
